Here We Go Again!

The Millions More Movement is today. I am watching it on C-Span with my mom. It's the tenth anniversary of the Million Man March. Whoop de doo! It looks empty out there, although I suspect that's purely because it's early. More people ought to show up later as the festivities progress.

It all still sounds bor-ing, the same old same old. Black people don't need yet another empty pep rally. Gosh. We know what we need to do and we know how to do it. Think globally, act locally and then act globally when you can. It's not clear what the purpose of this is and it's unclear what the platform is. Or maybe all of that is unclear to me because I could care less about any of the goings on. Well, I am interested enough to turn on C-Span to see who makes sense and who is spouting empty nonsense. It's all so underwhelming to me.

Back in college I would have been so excited, but I feel like I know better now. I wonder though, when I am older, if black people will still be doing stuff like this. And I wonder who will be representing the new generation of African-American civil rights leadership then? Scary thought.
